{"id":227,"date":"2015-06-15T00:00:16","date_gmt":"2015-06-15T07:00:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sandyleonvest.com\/?p=227"},"modified":"2015-11-01T11:21:26","modified_gmt":"2015-11-01T19:21:26","slug":"self-portrait","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sandyleonvest.com\/index.php\/2015\/06\/15\/self-portrait\/","title":{"rendered":"Self Portrait"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>Self Portrait<\/p>\n<p>one thing<br \/>\nfor sure.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Someone<br \/>\nis going to bleed<\/p>\n<p>in this picture.<\/p>\n<p>Someone always does<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>by the time you reach<br \/>\nthe end.<\/p>\n<p>Someone will have bled<\/p>\n<p>by the time<br \/>\nyou lay down<br \/>\nyour brush;<\/p>\n<p>the red<br \/>\nwill be out of control.<\/p>\n<p>It always happens<br \/>\nthat way.<\/p>\n<p>Red<\/p>\n<p>everywhere<\/p>\n<p>seeping<br \/>\nthrough canvas,<\/p>\n<p>spilling<br \/>\nover the banks<br \/>\nof what you intended.<\/p>\n<p>Funny,<\/p>\n<p>the portrait<br \/>\nstarted out<br \/>\nsimple enough<\/p>\n<p>simple lines<br \/>\nsimple strokes<\/p>\n<p>Simple.<\/p>\n<p>but once underway,<br \/>\nthe center<br \/>\nwould not be moved;<\/p>\n<p>the marrow refused<br \/>\nto be excised.<\/p>\n<p>There would be<br \/>\nno chorus of angels<\/p>\n<p>to calm<br \/>\nthe sound<br \/>\nof childhood<br \/>\nbreaking<br \/>\nunder a silver boot;<\/p>\n<p>no artist&#8217;s hand<br \/>\ngifted enough<\/p>\n<p>to smooth<br \/>\nthe jagged edges<br \/>\nof never again;<\/p>\n<p>no master\u00a0of finesse<\/p>\n<p>to buff out<\/p>\n<p>the red-stained<br \/>\nfingerprints<br \/>\non the walls<br \/>\nof your dreams;<\/p>\n<p>So,<br \/>\nyou trace<br \/>\nover and over<br \/>\nyour self<\/p>\n<p>you want<br \/>\nto erase<br \/>\nthe red<\/p>\n<p>the part<\/p>\n<p>that tells<\/p>\n<p>the truth<br \/>\nabout truth<\/p>\n<p>the part<br \/>\nthat knows<br \/>\nthere will always<br \/>\nbe red,<\/p>\n<p>no matter how perfect<br \/>\nyour golden brush strokes.<\/p>\n<p>Like I said,<\/p>\n<p>Someone always bleeds.<\/p>\n<p>In the end,<br \/>\nsomeone is always<br \/>\nleft lying<br \/>\non their knees.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Self Portrait one thing for sure.
