Jealousy

Standard

I am jealous
of the sky
for feeling
no pain

and I am jealous
of the sea

for not knowing.

I am jealous
of the stars
for having the audacity
to shine
where Light itself
has fled

and I am jealous
of the Dead
for what they
do not feel.

I am jealous
of the laughter
coming from
the house
next door,

and I am jealous
of the dimwitted
and the deniers
because they
have no idea.

I am jealous
of jesus
for making
his escape
before
the Great Meltdown
began

(and I am jealous,
in fact,
of all spirits
and ghosts
for taking
the easy way
out).

And most of all,
I am jealous
of you
for leaving
me here
with no hands

and no arms
to catch me

as I fall
through a bottomless
Sky.
